“Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better” – Maya Angelou
If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I share inspirational quotes daily. As much as I want these quotes to inspire my followers, they usually serve as a reminder of where I came from and where I am going. This is not a coincidence or something I am doing because it is popular. My Instagram account is a visual board of the steps that I have made (and still making) towards self-acceptance, confidence, and the goals that I want to achieve.
But building an online and social media presence is more time consuming than I expected (with a lot of distractions along the way). And even though I really enjoy interacting with people and posting genuine meaningful content, it is easy to go down the rabbit hole and to forget the reason why I am there. I’ll be honest – some serious time has been wasted comparing my account to others. But I would like to change that in a positive way.
So, I fill my Instagram account with small messages to remind myself that I am important, and that my work is important, and that my dreams matter. I share my goals so that I can be accountable to the people that are encouraging me and those that want to see me succeed. I dream big, I dream bold. And if I fail, so be it. That won’t stop me because this is all part of the learning process and it will only feed that fire. I want to live a bold life, and that requires to have balls, and balls have to be kicked sometimes. Don’t be afraid to be judged for your choices or to be kicked in the nuts. That might be exactly what you need.
